The IEC socket on the panel had oxidized contacts and was making poor contact. Simply moving the cable would shut off the humidifier. When is it needed? If the humidifier doesn't turn on even when plugged in , it turns on and off intermittently, or you see sparks when you plug it in. If the socket has burnt plastic or oxidized contacts, it should be replaced immediately to avoid a fire risk.

What is an IEC socket? It's an international standard (type C14 female)—the same connector found on PCs, monitors, and professional appliances. It guarantees safe connections up to 250V and 10A.

⚠️ Before ordering: Unplug everything, visually inspect the socket (are the contacts shiny or oxidized/black?), test the IEC cable on another device to rule out the cable as the problem.
