⚙️ How the COSMO Base Network Works
The base is the perforated floor of the COSMO incubator, made of expanded metal mesh. It rests on the bottom of the machine, above the water trays, and supports the egg turning rack with all the eggs.
Its open mesh structure has a fundamental function: it allows warm air and humidity to rise from the trays below and distribute evenly throughout the incubation chamber. Without this circulation from below, zones with different humidity levels would arise, and the eggs would not all receive the same treatment.
The original FIEM mesh is made of corrosion-resistant metal, designed to withstand years of exposure to the high humidity typical of incubation.

🔍 When to replace this part
Replace the COSMO base network if you notice:
- ✓ Visible rust: Brown or orange spots on the mesh, a sign of advanced corrosion.
- ✓ Broken or enlarged meshes: Holes in the net where eggs could get stuck or fall out.
- ✓ Bent or warped net: it is no longer flat and the eggs roll to one side.
⚠️ Why it happens and what you risk
The base mesh deteriorates primarily from constant exposure to humidity: year after year, the water evaporating from the trays underneath corrodes the metal. Frequent washing with disinfectants also accelerates oxidation if the mesh is not dried properly.
A rusty or warped wire mesh causes serious problems: the eggs no longer sit steadily and can move excessively during turning, colliding with each other, and breaking. Furthermore, rust can contaminate the incubation environment. Broken eggs are often thought to be caused by voltage problems, but simply checking the wire mesh can reveal the true cause.

🔧 Assembly in 3 simple steps

- Turn off and unplug the incubator
Unplug the appliance. Remove the egg turning rack and inserts. - Replace the network
Lift the old net and place the new one on the bottom, making sure it is well centered and rests evenly. - Comeback and final test
Replace the egg turning rack on top of the mesh. Make sure everything is stable and the eggs are resting correctly.
🛡️ How to make it last longer
- ✓ After each cycle: remove the net, wash it with water and a mild disinfectant, dry it completely before reassembling it.
- ✓ Every 6 months: check for rust spots, especially at the edges.
- ✓ When not in use: store the incubator in a dry place with the net completely dry.
- ⚠️ DON'T: Do not leave the wet net inside the incubator, do not use metal scouring pads to clean it.
