⚙️ How does the cable gland work?

The cable gland is the device that allows electrical cables to pass safely through the incubator panel while maintaining a watertight seal. Its function is twofold: it mechanically blocks the cable, preventing accidental stress on the internal connections, and it ensures IP65 protection against water and dust infiltration through the rubber gasket. The reinforced nylon material resists temperatures, humidity, and mechanical stress, ensuring long-lasting durability.

🔍 When to replace this part

Replace the cable gland if you notice:

  • ✓ Hardened or cracked gasket: no longer guarantees a watertight seal
  • ✓ Damaged thread: the cable gland no longer screws in properly
  • ✓ Broken or cracked plastic body: visible damage to the nylon
  • ✓ Obvious infiltrations: condensation or visible humidity at the cable passage point

⚠️ Why it happens and what you risk

Cable gland deterioration is caused by prolonged exposure to humidity, which hardens the rubber gasket; repeated mechanical stress on the cable, which loosens the seal; or temperature changes, which weaken the plastic material. If you continue to use a damaged cable gland, you risk water infiltration, which causes short circuits on the circuit board; dust ingress, which fouls the electrical contacts; or mechanical stress on the cables, which can separate the internal connections and cause sudden malfunctions.

  1. Unplug and remove the old cable gland
    Completely unscrew the damaged cable gland by turning it counterclockwise. Slide the cable through the hole. If the gasket is very hard, you may need to use a little force.
  2. Prepare the new cable gland
    Disassemble the new cable gland by separating the two parts (body and ring). Check that the internal gasket is intact and flexible.
  3. Install and seal
    Insert the cable through the ring nut, then through the body of the cable gland. Screw the body into the PG16 hole in the panel, tightening it by hand. Insert the cable and tighten the upper ring nut until the gasket grips the cable, ensuring a watertight seal. Check that it is secure by gently pulling on the cable.

LCD Thermostat Temperature Sensor (old) – The sensor that detects the incubator's internal temperature and allows the LCD thermostat to regulate the heating. This critical component constantly transmits temperature data to the thermostat to maintain the incubator at 37.5-37.7°C.

When is it needed? If the LCD control unit displays an incorrect or fixed temperature , or the internal temperature fluctuates too much . Even if you see "Err" or "---" on the display, or if the heating element remains always on or always off, ignoring the actual temperature.

Symptoms of a faulty probe: Displayed temperature stuck on one value, impossible readings, resistor that never turns on or off, sudden temperature fluctuations.
