🔧 Do you know what the most underrated part of the incubator is? The little clip that holds the thermometer in place!
It may seem incredible, but this tiny ABS clip, worth just €0.53 (excluding VAT), is essential for holding the thermometer in the correct position. The 17A clip is FIEM's specific support for the 05/A thermometer.
💡 If the thermometer doesn't stay in place or moves while turning the eggs, the readings become unreliable. A damaged clip can compromise temperature monitoring, which is crucial for hatching.
⚠️ As specified in the FIEM manual, the thermometer should be inserted into the clip from the bottom up, rotating slightly—never attach it from the front to avoid breakage. This correct procedure protects both the thermometer and the clip itself.
📍 When should you replace it? If the thermometer won't stay in place, if it moves or falls, if you see cracks in the plastic, or if you need to use alternative means to hold it in place. Given the minimal cost, it's a good idea to have a spare.
✅ Compatible with all Smart, CipCip 28 and CipCip 40 models. In the 2025 price list it is indicated as "ABS THERMOMETER HOLDER" and costs only €0.53.

The egg retaining springs for Fiem MG series incubators are original spare parts designed to ensure the correct positioning of eggs in the egg holders, especially when a row is incomplete. When is it needed? For incubators without a built-in hygrometer , as a visual check in addition to the control unit sensor, for continuous monitoring without replacing batteries. The dimensions are designed for the MG and Astrale series holes.
How it works: The hair hygrometer exploits the property of hair (natural or synthetic) to stretch as humidity increases. A system of levers transmits this variation to a hand with a graduated scale in %RH. It requires no electrical power.
Comparison with a wet bulb hygrometer: A hair hygrometer is easier to install (just insert it into the hole) and requires no water or sock maintenance. However, it has a slower response (5-25 minutes vs. a few minutes) and lower accuracy (±5% vs. ±3%). The wet bulb is specifically calibrated for 37.8°C, while the hair hygrometer is generic. For precise professional monitoring, we recommend the wet bulb; for practical, maintenance-free monitoring, the hair hygrometer is excellent.

It's more than just decorative plastic: it keeps the motor compartment isolated from the incubator's constant humidity, prevents dust from accumulating on the gears, and protects against accidental contact during operation.
🔒 As specified in the FIEM manual, the gearmotor is housed in an insulated compartment protected by this very cover. Without it, humidity from incubation penetrates the mechanism, dust accumulates, and the motor wears prematurely.
