RL 34 Single-Pole Switch for FIEM Control Units – The on/off switch for control units. This switch allows you to manually turn the control unit on and off, ensuring direct control over the system's power supply.

A customer from Verona called me: "The control unit no longer turns on, the LED remains off." Upon checking, the switch had become stuck in the middle position and was no longer making contact. I replaced the RL 34 switch within 10 minutes, and the control unit was fully functional again.

When is it needed? If the switch is stuck, no longer makes contact, produces sparks , or you have to press it several times before it works, it should be replaced. Even if it's visibly damaged, broken, or burned.

The switch should be replaced when:

  • Switch stuck: Does not move or remains in an intermediate position
  • Intermittent contact: You have to press it several times before the control unit turns on
  • No contact anymore: The control unit does not turn on even though the switch is in the ON position
  • It produces sparks: When you press it, you see flashes or hear popping sounds.

Replacement procedure (for expert technicians only):

  1. Unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet
  2. Open the control unit by removing the panel screws
  3. PHOTOGRAPH the connections before disconnecting any cables
  4. Note the position of each wire (live, neutral, earth if applicable)
  5. Disconnect the wires from the switch (faston or terminal screws)
  6. Remove the old switch from its housing (usually clip or nut type)
  7. Mount the new RL 34 switch in the same position
  8. Reconnect the cables exactly as shown in the diagram.
  9. Check that there are no loose or touching wires.
  10. Reassemble the control unit panel
  11. Reconnect the plug and test the operation

🔧 Do you know what the most underrated part of the incubator is? The little clip that holds the thermometer in place!

It may seem incredible, but this tiny ABS clip, worth just €0.53 (excluding VAT), is essential for holding the thermometer in the correct position. The 17A clip is FIEM's specific support for the 05/A thermometer.

💡 If the thermometer doesn't stay in place or moves while turning the eggs, the readings become unreliable. A damaged clip can compromise temperature monitoring, which is crucial for hatching.

⚠️ As specified in the FIEM manual, the thermometer should be inserted into the clip from the bottom up, rotating slightly—never attach it from the front to avoid breakage. This correct procedure protects both the thermometer and the clip itself.
