The GACOS is the hook with a threaded insert that connects the lower shell to the upper shell. If it breaks or loosens, the two shells will no longer seal properly, and you lose heat and moisture.
Quick diagnosis: shells that do not engage, broken or bent hook, stripped threaded insert, closure that does not hold.
Solution: Original FIEM GACOS for COSMO, COSMO EVO, and COSMO ML incubators. Price each.
📌 Real case: A customer in Treviso with a COSMO EVO had a car that wouldn't close properly and was losing heat. He thought it was an electrical problem, but it was just a broken GACOS. It was replaced in 2 minutes, and the problem was solved for less than 3 euros.
⚠️ When to replace: If the two shells no longer fit securely or you notice any play between the parts, check the GACOS immediately. An imperfect seal disperses heat and moisture.
