The clip should be replaced when: the thermometer doesn't stay in place, moves during the egg turning cycle, falls inside the incubator, has visible cracks or breaks in the ABS plastic, or requires tape or other means to hold the thermometer in place. ⚠️ CAUTION - CRITICAL MAINTENANCE: The muslin sock is the most important component for the proper functioning of the wet bulb hygrometer. It MUST be replaced frequently and ALWAYS kept moist with distilled water. A dirty, dry, or mineral-encrusted sock will cause completely incorrect readings.
When to replace: With each new batch of eggs, when the sock appears dirty/yellowish, if there are white scale deposits, when the readings are unstable or stuck at 100%, or if the sock no longer absorbs water well. ALWAYS use distilled or demineralized water to avoid mineral deposits.
