⚙️ How the COSMO Fan Protection Net Works

The fan guard is a metal grille located in front of the fan motor on the top of the COSMO incubator. Its function is simple but essential: to prevent feathers, eggshells, dust, and other foreign objects from falling into the rotating blades and preventing your hands from touching the blades.

The fan runs continuously for 21 days (or more), mixing warm air and evenly distributing temperature and humidity. Without the protective mesh, any debris could jam the blades, damage the motor, or create imbalances that cause vibrations and noise.

The original FIEM mesh has a calibrated mesh: tight enough to block debris, yet open enough to allow airflow. A non-original mesh with a different mesh size may reduce ventilation or provide inadequate protection.

🔍 When to replace this part

Replace the COSMO fan protection mesh if you notice:

  1. Turn off and unplug the incubator
    Unplug the machine from the electrical outlet. Let it cool if it was running.
  2. Access the fan compartment
    Lift the upper body (upper valve) to access the ventilation assembly at the top.
  3. Replace the network
    Unscrew the screws holding the old mesh. Remove it carefully without forcing it. Position the new mesh and secure it with the same screws.
  4. Final test
    Close the case, plug it back in, and turn it on. Check that the fan spins freely without making any noise or grinding.

🛡️ How to make it last longer

  • ✓ After each cycle: Gently vacuum feathers and dust from the net with a vacuum cleaner on low power.
  • ✓ Every 6 months: check for deformations or rust spots.
  • ✓ When cleaning: use a soft cloth, do not press hard on the mesh.
  • ⚠️ DON'T: Do not use direct jets of water, do not push the mesh towards the blades when cleaning.

Just like a mother hen turns each egg with her beak several times a day, this grid, moving back and forth for 30 minutes, gently rolls each egg, preventing the embryo from sticking to the shell.

🔄 Movement is vital: without regular rotation, the embryo adheres to the internal membrane and dies.
