Upon inspection, the metal support had warped and was no longer holding the tray in place. The support was replaced, and the problem was solved in 5 minutes.

When is it needed? If the channel moves, wobbles, or doesn't stay in place , the metal support is probably warped, bent, or missing. Even when replacing the channel itself, always check the condition of the support.
