🎯 As specified in the FIEM manual, pressing SET accesses the reference values, and using the up/down arrows adjusts the temperature (100°F) and humidity (47-62%). A customer from Rovigo called me: "The Limpia humidifier is constantly turning on and off, the humidity fluctuates, and the pheasant eggs are drying out." The IEC socket on the panel had oxidized contacts and was making poor contact. Simply moving the cable would shut off the humidifier. I replaced the socket, and it's been working perfectly for 18 months.
When is it needed? If the humidifier doesn't turn on even when plugged in , it turns on and off intermittently, or you see sparks when you plug it in. If the socket has burnt plastic or oxidized contacts, it should be replaced immediately to avoid a fire risk.
What is an IEC socket? It's an international standard (type C14 female)—the same connector found on PCs, monitors, and professional appliances. It guarantees safe connections up to 250V and 10A.

How it works: The hair hygrometer exploits the property of hair (natural or synthetic) to stretch as humidity increases. A system of levers transmits this variation to a hand with a graduated scale in %RH. It requires no electrical power.
Comparison with a wet bulb hygrometer: A hair hygrometer is easier to install (just insert it into the hole) and requires no water or sock maintenance. However, it has a slower response (5-25 minutes vs. a few minutes) and lower accuracy (±5% vs. ±3%). The wet bulb is specifically calibrated for 37.8°C, while the hair hygrometer is generic. For precise professional monitoring, we recommend the wet bulb; for practical, maintenance-free monitoring, the hair hygrometer is excellent.
