The lid should be replaced if: it has even minimal cracks that cause leakage, the plastic is opaque and no longer allows clear visibility, it does not seal hermetically leaving cracks, it is deformed and does not sit evenly, after impacts or falls that have damaged it, for hygiene reasons after numerous incubation cycles.
If you notice temperature leaks, check that the lid is properly positioned and the incubator is perfectly level. If the problem persists, the lid should be replaced.

Remove the old lid by lifting it vertically. Thoroughly clean the incubator's support edges. Place the new lid, ensuring it is aligned. It should fit evenly around the entire perimeter, with no gaps. Use only a damp cloth for cleaning; never use solvents that dull the plastic.
The lid maintains: a stable temperature of 100°F (37.7°C), controlled humidity as needed (47-62%), protection from drafts, and a sterile environment for development. Any unnecessary opening can compromise hatching!

A customer from Vicenza called me worried: he could hear a metallic rattling noise from his CIP CIP 40 incubator on the 12th day of incubating pheasant eggs. After checking, we discovered that one of the fan's metal supports had come loose. Once fixed, the machine went silent again, and the hatching was successful.
When are they needed? If you hear abnormal vibrations, metallic noises, or rattling coming from the fan compartment, or if you notice that the fan isn't perfectly centered, the bearings probably need replacing. Even during preventative maintenance , when you replace the fan motor, it's good practice to check the condition of the bearings.
