The faceplate should be replaced when: it has cracks or breaks, even small ones, it no longer fits securely, the plastic is deteriorated or discolored, the switch/display holes are enlarged or damaged, after disassembly for maintenance if damaged, to renew the appearance after years of use.
If the faceplate seems loose, check that all the fastening points are intact. Check for missing screws. If the problem is only cosmetic but it still works, you can wait, but plan to replace it.

WARNING: Always unplug the power cord before working! Remove the old faceplate by unscrewing the fastening points. Make sure the switches and display are properly positioned. Install the new faceplate, aligning the holes. Secure it without overtightening to avoid cracking the plastic.
The front panel protects: digital/analog thermostat, power and voltage switches, temperature/humidity display, and electrical connections. Without adequate protection, humidity can cause short circuits!

When is it needed? If the tray is cracked, leaking, warped , or too hardened to be cleaned, it should be replaced. The CIP CIP 28 uses two trays : normally one for incubation and both for hatching.

Original Spare Parts for Fiem Incubators : 38x45 cm metal hatching tray for the hatching compartment on the Fiem MG 100/150 (old model) and Fiem MG 140/200 (old model) incubators. When is it needed? For incubators without a built-in hygrometer , as a visual check in addition to the control unit sensor, for continuous monitoring without replacing batteries. The dimensions are designed for the MG and Astrale series holes.
How it works: The hair hygrometer exploits the property of hair (natural or synthetic) to stretch as humidity increases. A system of levers transmits this variation to a hand with a graduated scale in %RH. It requires no electrical power.
Comparison with a wet bulb hygrometer: A hair hygrometer is easier to install (just insert it into the hole) and requires no water or sock maintenance. However, it has a slower response (5-25 minutes vs. a few minutes) and lower accuracy (±5% vs. ±3%). The wet bulb is specifically calibrated for 37.8°C, while the hair hygrometer is generic. For precise professional monitoring, we recommend the wet bulb; for practical, maintenance-free monitoring, the hair hygrometer is excellent.
