⚙️ How the COSMO Gate works

The COSMO transparent door is the front window of the incubator that allows you to constantly monitor the condition of the eggs, check the thermometer and check the water level in the trays, all without opening the machine.

Every time you open the incubator, you lose heat and humidity that the machine then has to recover. During hatching, even a few minutes of openness can compromise the chicks. The transparent door eliminates this problem: you can look, check, and close it again with your eyes.

The original FIEM door is made of high-quality transparent plastic, resistant to constant heat and high humidity. It maintains its transparency over time and ensures a hermetic seal thanks to its contoured profile.

🔍 When to replace this part

⚠️ Why it happens and what you risk

The door deteriorates mainly due to prolonged exposure to heat and humidity (after 5-8 years of use), the use of aggressive detergents that dull the plastic, or accidental scratches when cleaning with abrasive sponges.

An opaque or damaged door forces you to open the incubator every time you want to check. Each opening disperses heat (the temperature can drop by 2-3°C) and humidity (it can drop by 10-15%). During hatching, these fluctuations can be fatal for the chicks that are breaking through their shells.

  1. Turn off and unplug the incubator
    Remove the plug from the electrical outlet.
  2. Remove the old door
    Unscrew the hinges holding the door to the upper frame. Hold the door with one hand while unscrewing to prevent it from falling.
  3. Install the new door
    Position the new door, aligning the hinge holes. Screw it in securely without overtightening.
  4. Final test
    Open and close the door several times. It should move smoothly and close without any visible gaps. Check that the visibility is perfect.

  • ✓ After each cycle: clean the door with a soft cloth and warm water. Dry thoroughly.
  • ✓ For cleaning: use only mild detergents, never glass products containing ammonia.
  • ✓ During use: open and close gently, without banging.
  • ⚠️ DON'T: Do not use abrasive sponges, do not clean with alcohol or solvents, do not expose to direct heat sources.

CIP Fan Protective Net CIP 28 / CIP CIP 40 – The safety barrier that protects the ventilation system. This metal mesh prevents debris, feathers, and shell fragments from entering the fan, maintaining air circulation and preventing noise or blockages during incubation. It also prevents the operator from inadvertently coming into contact with the fan.

A breeder in Treviso contacted me about a strange noise from his CIP 28 incubator: "It sounds like something is scratching the fan blades." Upon opening the incubator, we found the protective mesh was deformed and touching the fan with each rotation. After replacing the mesh, the problem went away, and incubation continued without a hitch.

When is it needed? If you notice rubbing noises, the mesh probably needs replacing. Even after aggressive cleaning with corrosive products , or if the mesh appears visibly rusted, deformed, or has loosened meshes, it's time to replace it.
