🔍 When it's necessary to replace the gutter
The gutter must be replaced when:
- Cracked or broken gutter: Water leaks from the bottom, compromising the humidity level
- Heat deformed: No longer fits properly into the seat
- Damaged compartments: The 2 sectors are no longer separated correctly
- Deteriorated plastic: After years of use it becomes fragile and porous
💧 How the 2-compartment system works
The CIP 40 CIP channel has 2 separate sectors to precisely regulate humidity:
During incubation (first 18-25 days depending on the species):
- Fill ONLY 1 compartment
- Target humidity: 38-52% (depending on species)
- Check your manual for specific values for your species.
During hatching (last 2-3 days):
- Fill BOTH compartments
- Target humidity: 62-70%
- Higher humidity helps chicks break their shells
💡 Advice from 45 years of experience: Humidity is critical for hatching. If it's too low, the chick dries out and struggles to emerge. If it's too high, it stagnates in the shell. Always adjust based on candling and the decrease in air volume.

- Leak Check: Fill with water and check for leaks from the bottom (wait 10-15 minutes)
- Try cleaning it: Use hot water and vinegar (50/50) to dissolve the limescale. Let it soak for 1-2 hours.
- Check the 2 sectors: Fill one compartment: the water must not pass into the other

🔧 Installation and use
Assembly (very simple):
- Unplug the incubator for safety.
- Remove the old gutter from the bottom
- Clean the housing seat
- Insert the new channel
- Fill with warm water according to directions (1 or 2 compartments)
What water to use?
- Tap water: It's fine if it's not too hard.
- Distilled/demineralized water: Ideal for avoiding limescale deposits
- Water temperature: Warm (20-25°C) to avoid lowering the temperature in the room too much
🧼 Cleaning and maintenance
After each incubation cycle:
- Empty the drain completely
- Wash with hot water and neutral detergent
- For limescale deposits: soak in water and vinegar (50/50) for 1-2 hours
- Rinse thoroughly
- Dry completely before storing.
- Optional: disinfect with alcohol or Glutarsan (FIEM tested product)
⚠️ Do not use:
- Wire brushes (scratch plastic)
- Harsh chemicals (corrode plastic)
- Pure bleach (may damage the material)
❌ Common mistakes to avoid
- Don't overfill: The water should reach 3-5mm from the edge, not to the brim.
- Don't forget to top up: Check the level every 2-3 days, evaporation is continuous
- Don't open too often: Every opening causes humidity and temperature to be lost.
- Don't use cold water: It lowers the temperature in the room too much
- Do not use hot water: it depends on the microclimate, use only lukewarm water 20/256°C.
